Washington Bureau Chief Julie Pace today announced an addition to AP's political reporting team, sending this memo to staff:

The Associated Press has named an experienced photo manager and a longtime news editor to leadership roles overseeing journalists in the cooperative’s East region.

Aretha Franklin always had a soft spot for The Associated Press. Over the years, she would seek out global Entertainment Editor Nekesa Mumbi Moody to chat — “We spoke when she was working on new music, or about an upcoming performance (like when she sang for the pope in 2015) or even her fitness plan and weight loss,” Moody recalled.

AP has appointed an experienced video manager and a longtime foreign correspondent to key leadership roles overseeing all journalists in two critical news regions.
