A new study by the Media Insight Project, a joint effort by the American Press Institute and The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, reveals what motivates readers to pay for news, offering publishers insight into the new media landscape.
“The time for shock and awe is over,” Senior Vice President and Executive Editor Sally Buzbee told the Japan National Press Club.
A year into the Trump presidency, Washington Bureau Chief Julie Pace addressed media bias, the state of press access in the current administration and how news organizations can regain public trust in an era of so-called fake news.
“If fact-based journalism is under assault from many quarters, we need to come out from a defensive crouch, and be proactive in talking about the work, how we serve the public interest, and to be transparent about how we go about it,” AP Vice President and Editor at Large for Standards John Daniszewski told the International Press Institute Friday afternoon.
At the International Broadcasting Convention conference in Amsterdam on Thursday, Executive Editor Sally Buzbee commented on current challenges faced by news organizations – from fake news to fighting for access – and the role of artificial intelligence in reporting.
