James Robson named global soccer correspondent

In a memo to staff on Friday, Global Sports Editor Ricardo Zuniga announced that James Robson is AP's new global soccer correspondent:

James has been covering Manchester United and the England national team for the soccer site Goal.com, and previously covered England, Chelsea and the Manchester teams as correspondent for the London Evening Standard. His knowledge, experience and sources will help us break news and grow our footprint in the football world.

James will be based in Manchester, England, close to the two Manchester teams and Liverpool. He will cover all things soccer, both on and off the field, with a focus on Premier League, Champions League, World Cup and Euros. He will also work closely with Steve Douglas, Graham Dunbar and others on FIFA, UEFA, accountability, and governability stories that cross beyond Sports. Please join us in welcoming James to the AP!
