Hi everyone, I am happy to announce that Sarajevo-based senior producer Amer Cohadzic is the AP’s new Central and Eastern Europe News Director. Amer joined the AP 25 years ago, starting as a fixer and translator and has been a senior producer since 1997. During that time, Amer has been at the heart of our coverage of so many major news events from the Balkan wars to the arrest of war criminals, overthrows of regimes, revolutions, World Cups, devastating earthquakes, G8 summits and so much more. Since 2018, Amer has been serving as acting news director for Central and Eastern Europe where he has helped lead the multiformat team to produce some incredible and compelling journalism. He and the CEE team frequently pitch stories that have strong characters and a sense of place that make them stand out. They also are fast and excel when news breaks — often beating the competition in every format. Please join me in congratulating Amer in his new role! He begins immediately and will continue to be based in Sarajevo.
